I believe that Teo is happiest in this moment and so am I!” At UTS, Bao Duy loves learning Maths and STEM. He loves doing sums and assembling, programming smart robots. Learning English with foodscapes!
At UTS, learning English is not just understanding vocabulary or using the grammar properly. Developing creative thinking for students in language lessons is very essential. According to a paper of Cambridge University, creativity is a skill that we must include in our curriculum because it challenges our students to think on a different level and to use parts of their brains that complement critical thinking. In class 6.1, UTS-ers could develop creative thinking through their English classes. They learnt about “foodscape” – a modern art which creates pictures with foods and vegetables. Then they brainstormed, prepared simple materials such as cookies, bread, etc. and created their own products. The final models are combination of creative thinking and excellent craft skill. This is the first step for UTS-ers to form their various thinking and creativity – necessary qualities in the modern world.

Raising UTS-ers’ awareness about cyber-bullying
According to recent reports of Microsoft, about more than 5 of 10 Internet users in Vietnam are related to cyber-bullying. Cyber-bullying left negative consequences for victims and bullies as well. Therefore, educating students carefully and timely about this problem is very essential with rapid growth of social media. With the Life Skills subject of Class 9.1, UTS-ers shared their own thoughts about cyber-bullying in various forms: making short film, designing poster, presenting or making animated cartoon. Each product made by UTS-ers includes a meaningful message to raise awareness about cyber-bullying and limit wrong actions on the Internet. Hope that after this lesson, UTS-ers are equipped with precious soft skills in communicating and behaving with people around them. Let’s build a friendly and lovely UTS community together!
